REQUIREMENTS

  • A pastor (minister, leader) must have a sense of God's call (must have a deep conviction about church - Ephesians 4:11-14; 2 Timothy 2:1-6; Titus 1:9-11)

  • A pastor must be spiritually qualified according to the standards of God's Word.

  • A pastor must have full conviction that holy scriptures, the inspired Word of God are sufficient and the final authority in all matters of teaching, doctrine, good conduct, discipleship, and a minister must commit whole heartedly to honour God's Word.

  • A pastor must have the awareness about the importance of good examples such as commitment to uphold highest standards in both public and private life. Moreover, a minister must display a lifestyle which is consistent with Christian ministry.

  • A pastor must affirm faithfulness and allegiance to God's church and CUF to follow and honour its foundational truth and ethos by submitting to its constitutions and discipline.

  • A pastor must be willing to commit fully to participate in all the requirements of CUF (CUF Handbook) to promote the vision and values of the Kingdom of God and of CUF.

  • A pastor must be willing to serve humankind, regardless of colour, creed and culture, to reach nations with the message of the cross.

  • A pastor must be currently involved significantly in local Church ministry and have a proven track record of ministry experience in the local church for at least 3 years.

  • A pastor must have the recommendation and full support of their local Church and remain accountable to their Church leadership.

  • A pastor must have recommendations of two ministers supporting his application for acceptance into CUF.

  • A pastor must be a teachable, reliable person who will be able to equip and train others.

  • The pastor must have a good reputation

    • Above reproach (1 Timothy 3:2, Titus 1:6)

    • Respectable (1 Timothy 3:2)

    • Well thought of by outsiders (1 Timothy 3:7)

  • The pastor must have a biblically based meaningful family life​

    • The husband of one wife (1 Timothy 3:2, Titus 1:6)

    • Must manage his own household well (1 Timothy 3:4)

    • His children are believers and not open to the charge of debauchery or insubordination (Titus 1:6)

  • The pastor must have self-control​

    • Sober-minded (1 Timothy 3:2)

    • Self-controlled (Titus 1:8)

    • Not greedy for gain (Titus 1:7)

    • Not quick tempered (Titus 1:7)

    • Not quarrelsome (1 Timothy 3:3)

    • Not a drunkard (1 Timothy 3:3)

    • Disciplined (Titus 1:8)

  • The pastor must be a relational leader​

    • Gentle (1 Timothy 3:3)

    • Upright (Titus 1:8)

    • Not quick tempered (Titus 1:7)

    • Not quarrelsome (1 Timothy 3:3)

    • Not arrogant (Titus 1:7)

  • The pastor must be hospitable and loving​

    • Hospitable (1 Timothy 3:2, Titus 1:8)

    • Love to do good (Titus 1:8)

  • The pastor must be a man of integrity​

    • Above reproach (1 Timothy 3:2, Titus 1:6)

    • Being examples to the flock (1 Peter 5:3)

    • Not greedy for gain (Titus 1:7)

    • Upright (Titus 1:8)

    • Hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught (Titus 1:9)

    • Holy (Titus 1:8)

  • The pastor must be a spiritually mature person​

    • Not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil (1 Timothy 3:6)
